Dennis A. Pelletier was born in Buffalo, New York but resided in Monroe County for over 30 years until his untimely death in February of 2004.
Dennis A. Pelletier began his career as a public servant when he was named to the Ogden Town Zoning Board in 1985.
He was appointed to the Ogden Town Board in 1987 to fill an unexpired term. During his 5 years of service on the Town Board, he was a member of the Town’s Board of Ethics and served as a liaison to the police department and the assessor’s office.
In 1992, Dennis was overwhelmingly elected to his first term as a Monroe County Legislator, representing the 20th legislative district which includes the Monroe County Towns of Ogden, Greece and Parma. During his first term, he was elected as the chair of the Monroe County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board.
Dennis was elected President of the Monroe County Legislature in 1998.
He was elected to the Board of Directors of the New York State Association of Counties in 1999, representing the counties of Cayuga, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne and Yates. He also served as President of the New York State Association of Legislative Boards, an affiliate of NYSAC.
Dennis was elected First Vice President of NYSAC in September of 2003.
After 11 years of service as a member of the Monroe County Legislature, Dennis resigned as President of the Legislature, to become the Executive Director of the Monroe County Water Authority, the position he held at the time of his death.
