Commissioner of Public Works

Resumes are being accepted for the position of Commissioner of Public Works.  The Commissioner has overall responsibility for planning, supervising, directing and controlling the operations of the Department of Public Works.  The position is responsible for the functions and activities of the following Divisions:  Engineering, Highways, Aviation, Environmental Facilities and Services, Buildings and Grounds, and the Administrative section within the Department.  This is an appointed position and the Commissioner reports directly to the County Executive.

Suggested Standards:  Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and ten (10) years experience in engineering or a related field including experience in an administrative capacity.

Possession of a Professional Engineer’s License is a requirement for this position.

Competitive examination is not a requirement for this position.
