The Board of Supervisors of Wayne County, New York is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Human Resources Director. This is a non-competitive Public Officer position, charged by law to administer and enforce the provisions of the Civil Service Law for the County and to each of the municipalities in the County. The position provides organizational leadership in areas of planning, evaluation, and implementation of all policies and functions relating to County employees, labor relations, affirmative action, training, and compensation plans. The incumbent reports to the County Administrator and advises the County Board of Supervisors.
The position has recently been reviewed and restructured to reflect the organization’s desire to not only address Civil Service administration but also Human Resources support and development to county government. This is an opportunity for the appropriate individual to make an impact in facilitating change where appropriate and to become part of an experienced and forward thinking county management team. Experience with New York State Civil Service administration and in dealing with public sector bargaining units is desirable.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources Management and three (3) years of professional experience in public human resources administration which included activities such as recruitment and selection, job evaluation and classification, benefits administration and labor relations; or
2. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources Management and four (4) years of experience in public human resources administration which included activities such as recruitment and selection, job evaluation and classification, benefits administration and labor relations.
Wayne County residency will be required within six (6) months of the appointment.
