Public Health Preparedness and Response Coordinator

Jefferson County Public Health Service is seeking a Public Health Preparedness and Response Coordinator. Join the Jefferson County Public Health Service team and make a difference in this unique and critical position!

Work is project management focused, with particular planning and coordination aspects that address health emergency events, drills, detection systems, regional mobilization, distribution clinics, mass casualties, and fatalities. Additional areas include isolation and quarantine, medical volunteer corps, and clinical resource evaluations. Plan and stage responses to all types of public health emergency scenarios. Complete state requirements with input by multiple county departments and community agencies.

Specific job duties vary. Maintain the county health emergency operations plan and all annexes. Work with multiple health and other response agencies. Serve on the appropriated community emergency planning committees. Conduct training sessions for multiple audiences. Develop public education materials. Assist with epidemiological surveillance and investigations.

Jefferson County Public Health Service is a local health department located in Watertown, New York. Jefferson County is in Upstate New York, an hour north of Syracuse, in the beautiful 1000 Islands Region. Jefferson County is bordered on the west by Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River and Canada to the north, and the Adirondacks to the east. Fort Drum, one of the largest Army installations on the east coast is also located within Jefferson County.

Skills and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Health, Science, Biology, Health Administration, Nursing, Epidemiology, EMS, or Health Education and 3 years of experience conducting investigation, surveillance, and control in a public health program. Hospital and/or emergency department experience is desirable.
