Planning Director

Livingston County, New York, located in the Western Finger Lakes region is a progressive suburban/rural county with a solid record of accomplishments and professional management, is currently seeking applicants for the following senior level management positions:

Planning Director

The Planning Director supervises a department of 12 employees with budget responsibility for approximately $2 Million in County, State, and Federal funds.  The Planning Department provides staff support to Livingston County Planning Board, Agricultural & Farmland Protection Board, Environmental Management Council and Conesus Lake Watershed Council.  Program responsibilities include planning and zoning assistance to local governments, watershed management, agricultural districts, transportation, SEQR reviews, GIS, human services programs and administration of State and Federal grant contracts.  The Planning Department assists the County Administrator and Board of Supervisors in planning and implementing County projects and programs.  Planning Director represents Livingston County on various regional and State bodies.

Vacancy anticipated in April 2008 due to retirement.  Salary Range:  $60,000-$70,000

Director of Mental Health and Community Services
This position will be filled in compliance with Section 102.7 of the Mental Hygiene Law and Local Law 5 – 2007 Establishing the Powers, Duties, Mode of Selection and Removal and Term of Office of Livingston County Community Services Director.

The Director of Mental Health and Community Services is responsible for the oversight of a County operated mental health services clinic employing approximately 20 staff members, the management and evaluation of several third party providers and related contractual services, coordinate OHM, OASIS and OMRDD activities with governmental and non-profit agencies, and work closely with the Community Services Board and Livingston County Board of Supervisors.  The total Departmental budget for 2008 is approximately $3.4 million.

Position open until filled.  Salary Range:  $60,000-$70,000

Deputy County Administrator
Assists the County Administrator in the overall administration of 23 operating departments for a full service County government of $130 Million and 1000 full and part-time employees.

Duties will include participation in budget development and execution, capital project oversight, policy development and analysis; employment relations and contract administration.

A successful track record in a Senior Management position in a New York State local government is highly desired.  It is intended that the successful candidate for this position will transition to the position of County Administrator upon the completion of the current County Administrators term in July 2009.
