Public Health Director
Annual Salary: $71,762
Washington County is seeking an experienced professional to lead its Public Health Department. The ideal candidate will have outstanding leadership, communication and administrative skills. Preferred candidate will also be able to serve as Director of Patient Services which requires licensure and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. Preference to be given to Washington County residents.
Duties include overall leadership of all Public Health activities within Washington County. Including but not limited to Certified Home Health Agency, Long Term Home Health Care Programs and Early Intervention Programs.
QUALIFICATIONS: A master’s degree in public health or in a related field from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university that includes the five core competencies of a public health education (Biostatistics, Environmental Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Health Policy and Management, and Social and Behavior Sciences). Related fields may include but shall not be limited to public health nursing, health administration, community health education or environmental health. Public health directors must have three (3) years of administration experience in a health related organization or government agency. This experience must demonstrate that the candidate possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to administer public health programs, including workforce and budget management, effective communication, effective establishment and implementation of policy or business goals, and compliance with legal requirements.
NOTE: All appointments to the position of Public Health Director are subject to the approval of the State Commissioner of Health.
