County Leaders to Hold Friday News Conference in Syracuse
Administrators and Managers will address budgetary challenges facing counties

New York State’s county administrators and managers will convene in Syracuse on Friday, December 11, 2009 to develop a strategy for addressing common concerns facing upstate communities.

The local leaders will hold a media availability following the meeting to discuss the fiscal challenges facing counties as they close out the 2009 fiscal years and implement 2010 spending plans.

Among the topics they will address include:

  • Delayed reimbursement for state programs and services delivered by counties,
  • Sales tax revenue and the need for reforms in the state’s sales tax process,
  • Calling for the state to take fiscal responsibility for mandated programs, and
  • A comprehensive economic development strategy for keeping and creating jobs in Upstate communities.
