Anniversary of New York's first confirmed case of COVID-19.
Hon. Marcus Molinaro,
President of the New York State County Executives' Association and
Dutchess County Executive
?We pause today to remember all those who lost their lives to the novel Coronavirus. This has been a long, painful, and challenging year for their families, friends and loved ones, and we mourn with all of them.
We also recognize the many health care workers, first responders, and essential workers who put it all on the line to keep New Yorkers safe and healthy over the past year.
While we are working to lower the infection rate and vaccinate as many New Yorkers as we can, we continue to urge safe distancing and mask wearing to prevent the spread in our communities and protect our must vulnerable residents.
Hon. Jack Marren, NYSAC President and
Chairman of the Ontario County Board of Supervisors
?Today as we mark one year since the onset of this pandemic here in New York we pause to memorialize the more than 47,000 who lost their lives to COVID-19. We grieve for these New Yorkers and we stand with their families and friends to honor their memories.
At the same time, we are proud of all of our county health officials, first responders, healthcare workers, and all New Yorkers for everything they did to keep themselves, their families and their communities safe from the spread of this virus. This was not easy, and we encourage New Yorkers to remain vigilant as we get closer to the end of this pandemic.
