Sullivan County Legislator Luis Alvarez elected to the New York State Association of Counties' Board of Directors

Sullivan County Legislator Luis A. Alvarez was recently elected to serve as a member of Board of Directors for the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC).
 

Sullivan County Legislator Luis A. Alvarez was recently elected to serve as a member of Board of Directors for the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC). Legislator Alvarez will represent the Third Judicial District on the board of directors.
 
"I am extremely proud to represent Sullivan County and the region on the NYSAC Board of Directors and I look forward to working with my colleagues from across the state make counties more efficient and effective," Alvarez said.
 
Luis Alvarez is currently in his second term on the Sullivan County Legislature, representing the residents of District 6. From 1985-2015, Mr. Alvarez worked in the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department with specialized service as a DARE officer from 1999-2015, retiring as Lieutenant in Charge of the Sheriff's Youth Division & Community Safety Programs. Legislator Alvarez received his B.S. Degree from Catholic University of Puerto Rico.
 
Residing in Liberty for over 33 years, he has been an active participant in the community, serving on many boards and committees including the ARC, where he has been on the guardianship committee for over 8 years, and formerly the Village of Liberty, as a Trustee. Luis has been married for 41 years and has two children.
 
The New York State Association of Counties is a bipartisan municipal association serving all 62 counties of New York State including the City of New York. Organized in 1925, NYSAC's mission is to represent, educate, advocate for, and serve member counties and the thousands of elected and appointed county officials who serve the public. Organized in 1925, NYSAC is the only statewide municipal association representing the interests of the full range of county leaders, including legislators, supervisors, county executives, administrators, commissioners, and other county officials from all 57 counties and the City of New York.
