Thursday's news from counties across the state.
NYSACMore Counties Joining the NYSAC Dental Network Card Program
Ontario and Steuben counties are the most recent counties to join the NYSAC Dental Network Card program, which expands dental care access to residents who are currently without dental coverage.
The program, which is not insurance, provides members with information they can use to locate dentists who have agreed to charge relatively low fees for dental services.
For a dime a day for individuals or a dollar a week for families, the Dental Card Program can pay for itself with one visit to a dentist.
There are currently 17 counties who participate in the program, which provides a unique opportunity for outreach and communication between county officials and the residents they serve.
Recognizing the public health advantages of proper dental care, the public health directors from Ontario and Steuben counties (Mary Beer and Darlene Smith, respectively) were instrumental in bringing this very important oral health program to their county residents.
For more information on the NYSAC Dental Network Card Program email Mark LaVigne at NYSAC, or visit the Health Economics Group booth at the upcoming Fall Seminar.
