Media Advisory: County Executives To Hold Press Conference Opposing Federal Families First Bill that Puts New York Last

Today at 1:30, Niagara Falls  Conference & Event Center

As part of the NYSAC Fall Seminar, county executives will be holding a press conference on Tuesday, September 20th at 1:30 p.m. to ask US Senators Schumer and Gillibrand to oppose federal legislation that will cost New York State taxpayers more than $250 million a year. The press conference will be held by the front doors of the Conference and Event Center at Niagara Falls, just prior to the NYS County Executives meeting.

The Family First legislation would significantly benefits states that have not invested in child preventive services as extensively as New York.  In enacted, the law would jeopardize the counties' progress in caring for our families in crisis and also cost the State and counties more than $250 million a year in funding used for families in crisis across the state.
Westchester County Executive Astorino and Erie County Executive Mark Polancarz will lead the press conference and call on U.S. Senators Schumer and Gillibrand to oppose this harmful legislation, which has passed the U.S. House of Representatives and will now be considered by the Senate.
