Interview: Vote Yes on Proposal #3

NYSAC Executive Director Stephen Acquario interviewed Hon. William Farber, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors for Hamilton County, about the upcoming ballot proposal #3 – also called the Land Bank Amendment.
Proposal #3 would allow the creation of a land bank with up to 250 acres of Forest Preserve land eligible for use by communities in the Adirondack and Catskill regions for addressing public health and safety concerns.

"Within the 300 million acres of preserved lands in the Adirondack and Catskill Forests there are private lands, there are communities, there are the amenities that attract people to the Adirondacks and Catskills. The people that live in these communities, the EMS and volunteer firefighters, all of the people that live here are impacted by the ability to have safe drinking water, to have safe roads and bridges, to have safe culvert pipe. This is an important ballot question for the people of the Adirondacks and Catskills, and that's 16 counties within New York State that are impacted by this amendment, and many many towns as well,” said Bill Farber, chairman of the Hamilton County Board of Supervisors.
"This ballot proposal sets up a 250-acre bank of land that is great for the environment, in that it is replaced before even the first fraction of the acres can be used; it is replaced by 250 acres of land that [has] recreational value, [and has] environmental value for the forest preserve.”
