NYSAC Recognized for Excellence in Government Relations and Meetings

NYSAC received two awards from the Empire State Society of Association Executives (ESSAE), a group representing professional association executives employed by trade, business and professional associations.
On Thursday, February 8, 2018, the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) accepted two awards from the Empire State Society of Association Executives (ESSAE), a group representing professional association executives employed by trade, business and professional associations.NYSAC's first award was for Association Excellence in Government Relations for its campaign called Leveraging Data to Increase State and Local Action in the Opioid Crisis. The award was accepted on behalf of the Association by NYSAC Legislative Director Katie Hohman.

"I am proud of the work that we accomplished through this initiative. We hosted seven regional events that brought together local government officials and community stakeholders to discuss local solutions for combating this epidemic," said County Executive Mark Poloncarz, who sits on a national opioid task force and is a member of the NYSAC Board of Directors.

NYSAC's 2017 Women's Leadership Council event, Meeting of the Minds: Discussions on the Issues Facing Women in County Government, won for Association Excellence in Meetings & Expos. The award was accepted on behalf of the Association by NYSAC Communication Coordinator Nicole Correia.
The September 2017 Women's Leadership Council event brought together over 70 women in county and state leadership positions for a series of roundtable discussions with state lawmakers, lobbyists, long-serving elected officials, and foundation CEOs.
"This event brought together some of the most influential leaders in New York State, regardless of party or region," said Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell, NYSAC President. "At the Meeting of the Minds event, NYSAC fostered a supportive environment where women serving in county government could share leadership strategies and tools for success. We appreciate this recognition and look forward to continuing this important work."
