Bipartisan Conference of County Officials to Convene in Rochester

County officials from across New York State will meet in Rochester September 24-26, when Monroe County hosts the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) 2018 Fall Seminar.
 
The conference provides education, training, and professional development in a collaborative, bipartisan setting.
 
“We are pleased to bring the NYSAC Fall Seminar back to Monroe County this year. Hundreds of county officials will be coming to learn, discuss public policy, and set a collective agenda to strengthen the economic vitality of communities across the state,” said NYSAC President MaryEllen Odell, the Putnam County Executive.
 
NYSAC conference activities will take place at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center and the Hyatt Regency Rochester, with an offsite special event planned for The Strong Museum.
 
“I am honored to welcome my colleagues in county government from across the state, and to showcase all that Monroe County has to offer our visitors and residents,” said Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo. 
 
Charles H. Nesbitt, Jr. the Orleans County Chief Administrative Officer, will be sworn in as NYSAC President at the Tuesday conference luncheon.
 
Workshops at the conference will cover a range of issues, including the opioid crisis, drinking water safety, women in county government, climate resiliency, dispute resolution, sports gaming, and election cyber security.
 
NYSAC's mission is to represent, educate, advocate for, and serve New York's counties and the elected and appointed county officials who serve the public.

Josh Darr, SVP and Lead Meteorologist for JLT Re, will present on these topics based on the latest middle of the road scientific theories, applied to the insurance industry.
