Otsego County Representative Margaret Kennedy was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) at the Association's Annual Meeting in Monroe County this week.
"I am pleased to welcome Margaret to the NYSAC Board of Directors. Her knowledge and expertise will help us with innovation and modernizing county government operations across the state," said NYSAC President Charles H. Nesbitt, Jr, the Orleans County Chief Administrative Officer
NYSAC represents New York's 57 counties and the City of New York in Albany and Washington on matters germane to county governments and informs county officials and the public about issues that impact county governments across the state.
Kennedy has 24 years of experience in family owned and operated horticultural business, and for the past ten years has served on governing bodies of two farmers markets along with the Hartwick Planning Board and the Hartwick Zoning Commission.
In Otsego County Kennedy serves as chair of the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee and chair of the Administration Committee on Ways & Means
"I look forward to continuing to represent county interests as I join the NYSAC Board of Directors," said Kennedy. "Using my experience from Otsego County and learning from others will help to shape decisions that result in positive outcomes in my community and for counties across the state."
"Meg Kennedy is a highly regarded county leader, and her experience will provide added value to the deliberations of the board," said NYSAC Executive Director Stephen Acquario.
