Cortland County Public Health Director Catherine Feuerherm has rescinded her planned retirement effective March 15th, 2020 in order to continue coordinating the Cortland County HealthDepartment's on-going response to the COVID-19 crisis. Feuerherm has over thirty years of service with County serving in several positions before becoming the Public Health Director.

Pursuant to the governor's order that all levels of government reduce its in-office staffing during the COVID-19 crisis, Orange County is making reductions. The county advises residents seeking any government services to call the department before arriving at that location.

Ulster County launches ‘Project Resilient' to aid those impacted by COVID-19
Ulster County Executive Patrick Ryan announced a new effort to assist those in need as a result of the coronavirus. Project Resilient includes a community fund within the United Way of Ulster County; an online portal for people in need to find help; and a robust food distribution network.

Monroe County to begin at-home COVID-19 testing for people who contacted infected person
The Monroe County Department of Public Health announced on 3/18 that it will deploy "strike teams" to perform at-home COVID-19 testing. The teams, which consist of two state-certified medical professionals and one driver, will be testing individuals who have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

Erie County Sheriff's Office offering COVID-19 alerts
The Erie County Sheriff's Office is now offering COVID-19 alerts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through its app. The home page of the app will display the latest announcements and news on the coronavirus. Push notifications can be turned on or off at any time.
