Statement by NYSAC President John F. Marren on the Release of Federal COVID-19 Planning and Response Funds

Counties applaud the release of $4.3 million in federal COVID-19 assistance announced by Governor Cuomo today. While this funding is an excellent first step in helping counties combat COVID-19, much more needs to be done to help local governments recover from the unprecedented economic disaster brought on by the pandemic. Counties continue to call on federal leaders to provide direct, unrestricted aid counties need to continue providing the critical public health, public safety, and social service programs the residents of New York State depend on during these trying times.
