Today, the Bi-partisan Congressional Problem Solver Caucus (PSC), co-chaired by Congressman Tom Reed and including New York Congressional Representatives Tom Suozzi, Anthony Brindisi, John Katko and Max Rose—released a comprehensive framework for a Coronavirus stimulus relief package that will help states, counties, and other local governments more effectively respond to the public health crisis and continue to provide the local services residents need during this pandemic.
We applaud our Congressional Delegation for their ongoing efforts to urge congressional leaders to pass an additional stimulus relief package that will provide direct and unrestrictive aid to states and local governments. Without a comprehensive relief package, counties will be hard-pressed to continue providing critical public health protections, mental health and substance abuse services, senior services, veterans programs, and critical infrastructure projects designed to maintain our roads, bridges, and clean water systems. Counties need this federal funding to prevent state budget cuts, continue to respond to the pandemic, and to prevent job losses and cuts in services for the most vulnerable populations in our communities.
Now is the time for our leaders in Washington to come together to protect our citizens, preserve jobs, and provide a stimulus package critical for ensuring a strong economy recovery.
