LAST CALL FOR EWASTE GRANTS
Counties and local governments have seven days remaining to apply for up to $3 million in reimbursement funding for costs associated with recycling electronic waste. October 31, 2016 is the deadline for a piece of the $3 million electronic waste (e-waste) grant program that was included in the 2016-17 New York State Budget. The allocation was designed to help local governments that help their residents recycle electronic waste products, like stereos, computers, printers, and televisions.
All municipalities within New York State that have incurred, or expect to incur, expenses for the collection and recycling of e-waste between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017 are eligible to apply for and receive reimbursement of eligible expenses, subject to available appropriations. The grant program is administered through the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's (DEC) Household Hazardous Waste State Assistance Program. Reimbursement is capped at up to 50% of eligible expenses.
