Public Defense Reform Bill Sent to Governor
The most important mandate relief bill of the 2016 State Legislative Session was delivered to Governor Andrew M. Cuomo for his signature.
 
The bipartisan legislation S.8114/A.10706, sponsored by Senate Deputy Majority Leader John DeFrancisco and Assembly Member Pat Fahy, would ensure that those in need have access to an attorney when facing criminal proceedings.  The bill passed unanimously in the Senate and Assembly in June.
