Tuesday's news from counties across the state.
NYSAC2017-18 Executive State Budget Released Today
Governor Cuomo will release his tentative State Budget today in presentations to the State Senate and State Assembly today.
The nearly $150 billion spending plan is expected to include more details on the several proposals introduced in the State of the State addresses last week.
Of particular interest, are proposals that will have a direct impact on counties, including
- Enacting early voting and other changes to the boards of elections
- Reforming the indigent legal defense program
- Investing $2 Billion in clean water and waste water infrastructure
- Requiring voter referendums on local shared services and consolidations
- Combatting the heroin and opioid epidemic
- Enacting ethics reforms that require local elected officials to financial disclosure requirements
The budget will also include a series of local projects and programs designed to help regional and local economies.
NYSAC will begin analyzing budget specifics as soon as they are made available.
