County Government Month

New York State counties are at the heart of our state, working directly with and for their residents.

Counties provide hundreds of services, from public health to public safety, from supporting local industries to delivering state programs. Counties deliver meals on wheels, provide support for families, youth, and senior citizens, run parks and recreation programs, promote local tourism, and cultivate community.

National County Government Month is a celebration of all the ways, large and small, that counties make a difference to the people of New York State.

Counties are encouraged to schedule activities to connect with constituents and highlight effective programs. It's the perfect opportunity to raise public awareness and understanding about the various services your county provides to the community.
