The Position

The Training & Professional Development Coordinator will, under the general supervision of the County Administrator, will be responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, sourcing and facilitating county-wide training, learning and professional development activities while ensuring alignment with the County's strategic plan and various human resource and administrative initiatives. 

The Training & Professional Development Coordinator will work to identify and develop training needs and develop partnerships with other professional training employees within the County and government agencies. The candidate will also implement and evaluate professional development with ongoing monitoring, including observation, feedback and reflection.

Conducts and evaluates needs assessments and gap analyses to identify deficiencies and recommends suitable training solutions for County employees. Coordinator collaborates with County employees and other stakeholders to design and facilitate professional development instruction that promotes best practices and meets county, state and federal requirements;.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess ability to:
  • Collaborate with County employees and other stakeholders to design and facilitate professional development instruction that promotes best practices and meets county, state and federal requirements.
  • Develop partnerships with other professional training employees within the County and other government agencies to leverage training resources;
  • Build capacity with County employees to provide ongoing, job-embedded professional development.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate professional development with ongoing monitoring, including observation, feedback and reflection.
  • Explore and implements professional development that is based on research-based strategies to help identify areas in need of improvement.
  • Support development, training and implementation of evaluation systems.
  • Team with County Administration and department leaders to ensure the delivery of consistent, county-wide professional development.
  • Team with business/industry, consultants and post-secondary partners as needed. Tailor professional development for specific County employees’ needs.
  • Analyze and disseminate pertinent training, credentialing and certification information to County employees.
  • Evaluate, select and manage external providers.
  • Research “best practice” learning curriculums.
  • Design and develop performance support tools, modules and instructional methods directed towards competency improvement.
  • Perform benchmarking to find the latest e-learning and technology products.

Minimum Qualifications 
1 - Possession of a Master’s degree from a New York State or regionally accredited college or university and two years of experience in Public Administration or a closely related role.
OR
2 - Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from a New York State or regionally accredited college or university and four years of experience in Public Administration or a closely related role.
