State Advocacy

New York's county governments provide the essential services for creating and sustaining healthy, vibrant and safe communities. From maintaining roads to promoting public health, county services improve the lives of our residents every day, in countless ways.

Your association continually engages with the State Legislature on legislative priorities impacting county governments.

The annual County Legislative Programincludes a series of reform proposals developed by county delegates, with a goal of making New York a better, stronger and economically viable state in which to live, work, and raise a family.

The components of the Legislative Program reflect the need for specific state or federal action. These policies have a direct impact on local governments, our residents, and the businesses in our communities. Many of these policies have direct state or county budget implications. As a result of these differences in legislative vs. budget policies, the association has delineated our state legislative advocacy and state budget advocacy on the subsequent pages.
