Cost Saving Programs

County Prescription Drug Discount Card

Since 2005, the County Prescription Discount Card Program has helped New Yorkers save money on prescription drugs, vision services, Lasik eye surgery, and hearing aids. The County Prescription Discount Card Program has been offered by 49 counties, and over the years has saved New York residents over $277 million dollars on over 7.3 million prescriptions.

The County Prescription Discount Card is free of charge through a partnership between the county and ProAct, a Pharmacy Benefit Management Company based in Central NY. Working alongside NYSAC, ProAct partners with counties to offer residents access to the program through the county website, county departments of social services, public health, and offices for the aging.

County Driver’s Safety Program

NYSAC partners with the New York Safety Program to provide an Internet Point & Insurance Reduction Program as an alternative method for defensive driving, but with the same great benefits of a traditional classroom course. New Yorkers can complete their defensive driving course online.

NYSP’s online program is designed to improve drivers’ attitudes and change their behavior. As pioneers of this particular program, NYSP is believed to be one of the best and most comprehensive courses available in the State of New York.

After conducting a rigorous due diligence process, the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) has chosen to partner with certain companies as preferred service providers. NYSAC believes these programs can help counties save money and provide improved services. NYSAC educates members about the availability of these solutions. NYSAC is not attempting to influence your procurement in any manner and encourages you to consider other providers to select the best program for the needs of your county.
