County Leaders Advance Key Policy Priorities at 2026 Legislative Conference

County leaders from across New York State advanced a series of policy priorities this week addressing rising fiscal pressures on counties, public safety challenges, and the need for greater local control over key revenue sources.

The resolutions were adopted during the 2026 NYSAC Legislative Conference in Albany and reflect the collective priorities of county governments as they work with state leaders to address unfunded mandates and service demands.

“County governments are the front line of service delivery for millions of New Yorkers,” said NYSAC President Philip R. Church. “These resolutions highlight the urgent need for state policies that recognize the fiscal realities counties face and provide the resources and flexibility necessary to meet the needs of our residents.”
