Deputy County Attorney, Washington County

Washington County is currently seeking to fill the position of Deputy County Attorney. The work of this class is of a highly professional level, calling for the exercise of independent judgment. Under the direction of the County Attorney, this position is responsible for answering many legal problems affecting the operation of county business and organization, as well as representing the county in the courts.   General supervision is exercised over the activities of the county attorney's office.  
 
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Several years of progressively responsible experience in the practice of the law, preferably civil law; graduation from a recognized accredited law school; or any equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to indicate ability to do the work, some of which should be in a supervisory capacity. Must have obtained license to practice law prior to appointment.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT FOR THE ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS:  
Eligibility for a license to practice law in the State of New York.
 
Residency Requirement: Washington County residency is required. Candidate must be a Washington County resident or will be required to obtain residency within 90 days of date of employment.
 
Starting Annual Salary:  $104,727 plus NYS Retirement and excellent benefits.
