Job Title: Senior Assistant Social Services Attorney - Full Time-Permanent

Salary Range: $94,666 to $116,416 plus excellent benefit package

Work Location: Hudson, NY

Classification: Competitive Civil Service position. There is no written exam for this position.
Incumbent will need to complete a Training and Experience exam - Credentials
must be submitted per Civil Service announcement.

Distinguishing Features of the Class: This is a professional position requiring performance of legal work for the local district Department of Social Services under the supervision of the Social Services Attorney/ Counsel to the Commissioner. The work is performed in accordance with the provisions of Social Services Law, the Family Court Act, New York State General Regulations, and policies established by the Commissioner and the County Board of Supervisors. The position requires ongoing interpretation and implementation of the foregoing, legal research, exercising of independent informed judgment, and, under the guidance and with instruction from the Counsel to the Commissioner, assisting less senior Social Services Attorneys to develop the necessary skills to effectively manage their caseloads. The attorney is on-call on a 24-hour basis and shall be required to provide the Counsel to the Commissioner with a daily briefing of all pertinent issues confronting each unit of the children and family services division.

Minimum Qualifications: Admission to the New York State Bar and three (3) years of service as an Assistant Social Services Attorney or equivalent experience.

Must possess a valid New York State Driver’s License at the time of and throughout employment.
