NYSAC’s Centennial Fall Seminar Coming to Niagara County September 8-10

For Immediate Release: September 2, 2025

NYSAC’s Centennial Fall Seminar Coming to Niagara County September 8-10

Next week, the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) will host its 2025 Fall Seminar, which serves as NYSAC’s Annual Meeting, at the Niagara Falls Convention Center, from September 8–10.

This year’s Annual Meeting is especially significant as it marks NYSAC’s 100th anniversary. The Centennial Fall Seminar will bring together county leaders from across the state for a robust program of policy-making, training, and collaboration. During the event, attendees will also vote to approve a new slate of association officers — including the next NYSAC president.

“We are thrilled to host our Centennial Fall Seminar in one of New York’s most iconic locations — Niagara Falls,” said Ben Boykin, NYSAC President and Westchester County Legislator. “This is not only an opportunity to reflect on our century of advocacy and service, but also to look forward as we work together to shape the future of county governments in New York.”

The three-day event will feature more than 20 workshops and plenary sessions addressing key policy and operational issues facing counties today, including:

  • Medicaid reform and cost control
  • Emergency preparedness and crisis response
  • Implementing New York’s new Short-Term Rental Law
  • Rural public health innovations
  • Remembering September 11th with a dedicated plenary session to reflect on the enduring impact of the attacks and honor those who serve.

“For 100 years, NYSAC has served as the unified voice for New York’s counties, and there was no more unifying event in our state than 9/11. We must never forget this tragic terrorist attack on our soil, and this recollection makes it as personal as it can be,” said Stephen J. Acquario, NYSAC Executive Director. “This will be a truly special event, and we look forward to bringing our members together as we mark a century of resilience, collaboration and progress.”

Another central component of the meeting will be the convening of NYSAC’s ten Standing Committees, which will meet to discuss and vote on proposed resolutions. These resolutions will shape NYSAC’s legislative agenda and be brought before the full membership for consideration and adoption.

With over 600 attendees from across the state expected to attend, the NYSAC Fall Seminar is one of the largest gatherings of local government leaders in New York State and a vital forum for exchanging ideas, developing policy, and building partnerships.
